Reflections On Thanksgiving
To the Editor:
Thanksgiving Day – a day to give thanks to our Creator for giving us to live in the most unique and God blessed nation on the planet. So far, our God given rights are fairly well protected.
So, we are free – free to run or walk, free to work or play, free to climb or sit, free to excel in any way as long as we don’t invade someone else’s sphere. However, our freedoms are being eroded by those who know best. We are being sold the false idea that we can trade freedom for security. Where this trading has been going on, there is neither freedom nor security.
Ideas have consequences and some ideas come packaged in deceit. Ideas need to be evaluated with posterity in mind. The founders of our wonderfully great United States of America pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor in signing the Declaration of Independence. Most of them lost their fortunes, many lost their lives, but all maintained their sacred honor for the benefit of their posterity.
One of the conditions of liberty is eternal vigilance. So, let us be alert. Let us keep informed. And let us participate in the political process. Pick out a candidate and support him/her in every way.
