Loren H. Thompson
Loren H. “Tommy” Thompson, 96 of Mallard and formerly of the Rolfe and Plover area died December 14, 2019 at the West Bend Care Center, West Bend.
Mr. Thompson has deeded his body to Des Moines University to assist in medical research.
A service will be held at a later date.
Loren Henry Thompson, the son of Jens and Helen (Lothen) Thompson was born October 26, 1923 in Rolfe, where he was raised and received his education. He attended school and graduated from the DMT (Des Moines Township), after which he attended Iowa State University.
On July 16, 1946 he was united in marriage with Mary Grethen in Sioux City. The couple lived and farmed in the Plover and Rolfe area before moving to town in Mallard in 1999.
Survivors include his wife Mary, of Mallard and his six children as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bob and sister Sally.
Tommy was a member of both St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Rolfe, as well as St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mallard.
He was a supervisor for Pocahontas County in Pocahontas and was a member of the Mallard American Legion.
Burial will be held in Ellington Cemetery, Mallard at a later date.
