Milo Thomas Shaveland, the son of William and Clara (Kern) Shaveland was born at Mallard, IA, December 27, 1927, the oldest of two children. Milo attended the Mallard Community School, graduating in 1945. After graduation, he farmed with his father. Milo lived on the family farm with the exception of a couple years when he was younger.

On September 16, 1950 he was united in marriage to Elsie Clausen on the Clausen family farm. Blessed to them were two daughters, Linda and Sandra.

Milo and Elsie lived on the “well kept” Shaveland farm near Mallard all their life until they moved to the Emmetsburg Care Center in October of 2011. Milo and Elsie worked together to manage the family farm and raise their two daughters.

He loved being a farmer raising corn, soybeans, and tended a cow/calf herd.

Through the years he made many farm building updates to beautify their acreage. There was never anything out of place. His hobby was truly taking care of the land and farmstead.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mallard.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Clausen Shaveland, his parents, William and Clara Shaveland, step-mother, Esther (McBride) Shaveland, grandson Brian Arndt, brother in law, Lyle Foster and nephew, Rick Foster.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Linda (Dave) Arndt of Pocahontas, Sandra (Kevin) Mills of Algona; grandchildren, Mike( Emily) Arndt of Ankeny, Heather Mills, Janesville, WI, Whitney (Bill) Smidt, Titonka, Blake, (Stefanie Madsen) Mills, West Des Moines; great grandchildren, Colton and Brady Arndt and Michael and Makenna Smidt, sister Lavonne (Carl) Heldt of Mallard, IA and niece, Jane Davis
