The visitation for Lois Jurries will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church. The service will follow at Bethany Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Reverend Peter Morlock will officiate.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg. Martin-Mattice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lois Evelyn Jurries, daughter of Lester and Emma (Twait) Larson, was born Sept. 5, 1929 in Cylinder. She attended rural schools near Emmetsburg and Depew and graduated from Emmetsburg High school in 1948. After high school, Lois worked a short time in Des Moines and then returned to Emmetsburg where she worked for Brownlee Implement. She later was employed at Dakota Seed Company and then Palo Alto County State Bank where she worked from 1971 until her retirement in 1994.

Lois was united in marriage to Melvin “Mike” Jurries at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Depew on Aug. 19, 1951. They made their home in Emmetsburg after Mike was discharged from the United States Army in 1952.

She and Mike enjoyed camping and fishing for many years. Lois was very active in the Senior Citizen Center, serving on various boards and helping with Dinner Date. Lois was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg.

Lois passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018 at the Emmetsburg Care Center in Emmetsburg at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mike; and a sister, Dorothy Kinnetz.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Dawayne Kinnetz of Okoboji; as well as other relatives and many friends.
