Raymond L. Loring
Raymond Loring, age 85, of Emmetsburg passed away on January 13, 2018 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, Jan. 17th at the Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg, with Rev. Doug Burton officiating.
Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg. Joyce Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Raymond Louis Loring, the son of Jake and Ursula (Wiwi) Loring, was born on March 8, 1932 in Graettinger. Ray served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Italy during the Korean War. On Aug. 6, 1954 Ray was united in marriage with Carol Hoffmeyer in Estherville. Ray had worked reupholstering furniture and owned and operated Emmetsburg Upholstery for 55 years. He had been a member of the Emmetsburg VFW. Ray enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating, water skiing and bicycle riding.
Left to cherish Ray’s memory is his wife of 63 years, Carol of Emmetsburg; children, Stephen Loring of Estherville, Linda (Mike) Guinn of Hartley, Craig (Anna) Loring of Havelock, Sheryl (Melinda Talbot) Loring of Emmetsburg, Diane (Tony) Putnam of Everly and Kayleen (Scott) Farmer of Estherville; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; four sisters, Alberta Spurling of Fort Dodge, Annabelle Walker of Emmetsburg, Liz (Jim) Reinders of Estherville and Pauline Loring of Emmetsburg; and two brothers, Larry (Jeanne) Loring of Ankeny and Frank (Shirley) Loring of Emmetsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a great grandson, Cole Ryan Loring; 2 sisters, Margaret Onken and Rita Goeders; and two brothers, James and Ed Loring.
