Jaromir (Jimi) Zelenka, son of Jaromir Zelenka and Marie Zelenkova, was born December 3, 1948, in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and passed away on December 17, 2017, in North Miami Beach, FL at the age of 69.
In April 1969, at the age of 21, Jimi escaped communist rule in Czechoslovakia during the Russian Invasion and fled to a refugee camp in Vienna, Austria. In July 1969, the Catholic Conference sponsored him and brought him to the United States of America, a country he loved, appreciated and was proud to become a citizen of.
In 1969, Jimi met his wife Marge Kirschbaum, in Miami Beach, FL. They married in 1971 and had one son, Steven in 1976. Jimi and Marge were blessed to share 46 years together.
Jimi was a good man who had no enemies and was a friend to all, young and old. He had a tremendous love for animals and would care for any birds or stray cats that would come his way.
One of his favorite joys was fishing with his son Steven in the Everglades National Park, fishing with Jose and Steven in Key Largo, and hunting with Ron in Iowa.
Jimi loved his son Steven and daughter-in-law Maria and their two beautiful daughters, Maria and Samantha, who were his pride and joy.
Jimi is survived by his wife Marge of North Miami Beach, Florida, and his son Steven and wife (Maria), their two daughters (Maria Sofia and Samantha Maria) of Miami, Florida; his brother Jiri and wife (Alena) and son (Jan) of Prague; as well as many other relatives and friends.
