Cherie E. Thuemling

A private family service for Cherie Thuemling was held on Monday, Dec. 4 at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Martin-Mattice Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Cherie Ellouise Thuemling, daughter of Harlan and Marcel (Guthrie) Franker, was born Nov. 24, 1944 in Spirit Lake. She received her education in Early and Laurens. While in high school, Cherie enjoyed singing.

Cherie worked at the Franker Locker Plant with her parents in Laurens. She and Robert ran Point’s Trucking in Pocahontas where Cherie did the bookkeeping and also drove truck. Cherie retired in 2000. After her retirement they enjoyed traveling to Arizona and Texas for the winters and made their home in Curlew.

Cherie also worked for Johnny and Rick for over ten years on their farm. She loved spending time with her dog, Casey.

Cherie died Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 at her home in Curlew at the age of 73. She was preceded in death by her parents; E.J. Thuemling and Robert Point; and a daughter, Kelly Machelle.

She is survived by her children, Tammy Thuemling of Sioux City, Sandy (Troy) Sohn of Sioux City, Christy (Todd) McDonald of Storm Lake, Johnny (Rick) Hurley of Emmetsburg, and Corry Thuemling of Sioux City; step children, Kenny Point, Alan Point, Mike Point, Jim Point, Debra Boadway, Donna Kakacek, Wayne Point, and Steve Point; 27 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers, Sonny Franker and Bobby Franker; four sisters, Fran Detterman, Trudy Smith, Vickie Buettner and Tina Thomas; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
