Leona M. Larson
A Graveside Service for Leona Larson will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 at 11a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Terril. Reverend Kris Hackbart will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Martin-Mattice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Leona Mary Larson, daughter of Claude and Herma (Leighter) Krieger, was born on the Leighter homestead southwest of Terril. She graduated from Terril High School in 1939. Following high school, Leona worked at Scotts Store in Spencer.
On Jan. 1, 1941, Leona was united in marriage to Lee Larson at the Congregational Parsonage in Peterson.
Leona and Lee farmed near Terril for many years. Leona was also employed at Alfs Manufacturing and Super Value where she was a cook. In 1966 they moved into Spencer where they made their home.
Leona was a member of the United Methodist Church in Terril and after moving to Spencer she joined the Christian Church. She was also a member of the Order of Easter Star in Terril.
Leona passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017 at Longhouse-Northshire in Spencer at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Heath Christian; and two brothers, Bob and Raymond Krieger.
She is survived by her children, John (Stephanie) Larson of Emmetsburg and Claudia (Ray) Christian of Spencer; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers; and one sister.
