Paul M. Darnell
Services for Paul Darnell will be held on Saturday, July 1. The visitation will be at 1 p.m. with the Masonic service to follow. The Christian service will be held at 4 p.m. Reverend William Peake will officiate the funeral. Martin-Mattice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Paul Matthew Darnell, son of Floyd “Dusty” and Ruby (Sievert) Darnell, was born October 20, 1952 in Alta. Paul served in the United States Army, during which time he completed his high school education. Paul later attended Iowa Lakes Community College where he received his Associates Degree in Automotive Technology on May 19, 1995.
As young boy, Paul helped his parents in their restaurants, The Pantry and the Short Stop Cafe in Storm Lake. As a young man, Paul worked for a carnival, setting up, tearing down and driving equipment to various towns. He also did a lot of automotive work and did over the road trucking.
On April 1, 2001 Paul was united in marriage to Patricia Bolte Webster at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Fairville. They made their home near Fenton.
Paul was a Mason and member of the Blue Lodge York Rites and Shriners. He enjoyed driving the Shriners go-carts at parades and events around the area.
Paul passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 at his home near Fenton, at the age of 64.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Delond Bolte; son, Nathaniel Webster; and nephew, B.J. Strandberg.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Fenton; his children, Kenneth Darnell, Misty (Kenneth “Jimmy”) Nelson, Angel (Thomas) Riecks, Hope (Ronson) Bell and Jay “James” (Carol) Darnell; 15 grandchildren; five brothers; three sisters; mother-in-law, Beverly Bolte.
