Nina J. Jurries 1934-2016
Funeral service for Nina June Jurries of Emmetsburg will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 1, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. John Koopman will officiate.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.
Nina June (Frisbie) Jurries, daughter of Joe and Luella (Frink) Frisbie, was born on June 9, 1934 in Emmetsburg. She received her education in Emmetsburg.
On Oct. 14, 1951, Nina was united in marriage to Stanley Virgil Jurries. To this union eight children were born.
Nina was employed as a nurses aide at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg from 1965 until 1972, and the Emmetsburg Care Center from 1965 until 1979. Nina attended Iowa Lakes Community College, completing her G.E.D. in 1979, an L.P.N. license in 1980, an A.D.N. in 1981 and an Associate Degree in Health Care Administration in 1985. While attending school, Nina served as Director of Nursing at the Emmetsburg Care Center from 1981 to 1996, retiring in 1996. After her retirement, Nina worked night shifts at PARC Hall from 1996 until June 2000.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and volunteered in many capacities. She was a member of the Mary Circle and taught Sunday School for many years. Nina enjoyed volunteering at the Care Center after her retirement.
Nina passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at the Emmetsburg Care Center, at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Brian Allen; her husband, Stanley; twin grandsons, Theodore and Jeramiah Kloster; grandson, Michael Jurries; granddaughter, Anna Jurries; her mother, Luella (Frink) Worden; her father, Joe Frisbie; brother, Philip Frisbie; step father, Raymond Worden; and step mother, Opal Frisbie.
She is survived by her children, Judy Kloster (Tim) of Nebraska, Connie Cornelius (Greg) of Emmetsburg, Stanley Jurries, Jr. (Syrena) of Texas, Diana Arkland (Jack) of Lake City, Michael Jurries of Washington, Timothy Jurries (Debbie) of California, Barbara Spencer (Gary) of Spencer; 20 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; step sisters; step brothers; half sister; half brother; nieces and nephews.
