Jeffery M. Wilson 1952-2016

Celebration of Life for Jeffery M. “Hermit” Wilson will be held at a graveside service Friday, Sept. 16, at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel. The service will be held at 12:30 p.m.

Jeffery Mark Wilson, son of Gerald “Keith” and Norine (Kopaska) Wilson, was born Feb. 12, 1952 in New Ulm, MN. He attended Ankeny High School in Ankeny, before enlisting in the United States Navy on Feb. 26, 1970.

While serving in the U.S. Navy, Jeff served on the USS E.T. Chandler as a radio operator. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Jeff was honorably discharged on Dec. 5, 1973.

Jeff lived in Colorado and Minnesota before returning to Iowa where he worked in Algona. He was also employed at Skyjack in Emmetsburg and helped various farmers in the area. He currently made in home in Rodman.

Jeff passed away Monday, Aug. 22, 2016 at the Palo Alto County Hospital after being recently diagnosed with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Wilson and a brother, Brad Wilson.

He is survived by his mother, Norine Wilson of Ankeny; a brother, Denny Wilson of Santa Rosa, CA; sisters, Kim (Wilson) Porter of Ankeny, and Amy Napolski of White Bear Lake, MN; special friends, Jerry Besch and Kristie Daly.
