Carey V. Campbell 1951-2016

Carey Van Campbell, 64 of Flagstaff, AZ, formerly of Emmetsburg, passed away surrounded by his family and friends as they played the guitar and sang his favorite songs on July 12, 2016.

Carey was born July 16, 1951 in Emmetsburg to Richard and Betty Campbell.

He attended Emmetsburg High School where he was active and enjoyed playing football and wrestling. Upon his graduation in 1969 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, he proudly served his country for two years in Vietnam. After his return he went to work as a Journeyman Electrician for Emmetsburg Electrical.

In 1975 Carey married the love of his life Barbara Bisenius where he was welcomed and loved. Carey was an important addition to her family and developed close friendship with everyone. In 1979 they moved to Flagstaff, Arizona. Carey worked for Bamber Electric until beginning his career with W.L. Gore and Associates. While at Gore he was a product developer, instrumental in patenting over 100 medical product lines. In 2013 he retired after 30 great years.

Carey loved the outdoors, hiking fishing and backpacking with his son, Van, friends and family. He especially enjoyed taking road trips with Barbara and his family exploring all over the United States.

Carey is survived by his wife Barbara (Bisenius) Campbell of Flagstaff, AZ, son Van Campbell and his fianc Alexz Davies of Surprise, AZ, his brother Dennis Campbell of Belvidere, IL, and his sister Vicki Buettner of Ayrshire; as well as his precious Marley and his extended family of in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard Campbell and mother Betty Campbell Mehan.

A Celebration of Carey’s life will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the VFW Hall in Emmetsburg. Please bring your friendship and stories to celebrate his life.
