Ivanelle Twaiten

Ivanelle Twaiten passed away at the Beatitudes Retirement Home in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, May 30, 2016.

Ivanelle, the daughter of Thomas and Inger Johanna (Ida)?Twaiten, was born on Nov. 9, 1930. She graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1948 and from Waldorf College, Forest City, in 1950. She completed nurse’s training in Sioux Falls, SD, and served in hospitals and several cities before settling in ?Phoenix, where she was a nurse for over 30 years.

In retirement, Ivanelle tutored for several years at Mt. View School, teaching mathematics and English.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kermit.

She is survived by two brothers, Arden (Joann)?Twaiten of Emmetsburg and Thomas (Vera)?Twaiten of Newport Beach, CA, as well as by a nephew, Tim (Ruth)?Twaiten and niece, Julie (Al) Laubenthal, and their families.

Ivanelle was an enthusiastic traveler and visited countries in Asia, Africa and Europe as well as North and South America. In her spare time she loved to play rummikub and read. She also enjoyed computer and internet activities and photography. She was a faithful member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Phoenix. Ivanelle donated her body to ScienceCare for medical research.
