Betty Lou Johnson 1931-2016
CURLEW — Betty Lou Johnson, 84, of Curlew, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg.
Services for Betty Johnson will be held Friday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Mallard. Burial will be in Rush Lake Cemetery.
Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. The Harris Funeral Home of Mallard is in charge of arrangements.
Betty Lou Wermersen, the daughter of William and Ethel (Hiller)?Wermersen, was born Oct. 28, 1931, in Corwith, where she was raised and received her education.
She was married to John Johnson. The couple farmed in the Mallard area and owned a bar in Mallard. She drove school bus for many years in Mallard and cooked at Palo Alto County Hospital until her retirement.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mallard, the Curlew “coffee club” and the Garden Club in Mallard. She was an animal lover and loved to bird watch. She also enjoyed crafts and was known to be a great cook, specializing in cinnamon rolls.
Betty is survived by her nieces and nephew, Roberta (Paul) Colsrud, Sheila (Gary)?Anderson, Vicki (Bob) Schneider, and Rick Wermersen, all of Mallard.
Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Robert; her parents; sister-in-law, Ruth; and her niece, Deb Aldersen.
