Leah McGranahan 1925-2016

RUTHVEN — Visitation for Leah M. McGranahan will be held Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven. The visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date on the McGranahan family farm. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Leah Mae McGranahan, daughter of Harold and Nettie ( Moore) Roland, was born April 20, 1925 near Terril. She began her education in country school and completed her education at Lake Center School.

Following high school Leah worked on B29 aircraft in Omaha, NE during World War II.

In 1947 Leah was united in marriage to Dean McGranahan in Jackson, MN. To this union two children were born.

During the holidays Leah worked at Stub’s Ranch Kitchen in Spencer and also at Stub’s restaurant at the Clay County Fairgrounds during the fair. Leah was also very active in helping Dean on the farm.

Leah was a member of the United Methodist Church and church circle in Ruthven. She and Dean enjoyed traveling to Arizona and California where they spent the winters for several years.

Leah passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016 at the Ruthven Community Care Center, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Dean of Ruthven; her children, Allen McGranahan (Cindy) of Dickens, and LeAnn McGranahan (George Veitch) of Papaaloa, Hawaii; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Marion Devore; and a dear friend that was raised with Leah’s family, Colleen Rehm.
