Virginia Huberty 1937-2016

A Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia L. Huberty of Emmetsburg will be held Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. Celebrant is the Rev. Clem Currans.

Interment will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. Military rites will be presented by members of V.F.W. Post #2295, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Virginia Lou Huberty, daughter of Alva and Leona (Kress) Howard, was born Nov. 24, 1937 in Emmetsburg. She received her education at Emmetsburg Catholic School, graduating in 1955.

Following graduation, Virginia was employed at St. Ann’s Hospital in Estherville and later the Davenport Elevator in West Bend. She then entered the United States Air Force, serving her country for three and a half years. After being honorably discharged Virginia returned to Palo Alto County.

On June 10, 1961, Virginia was united in marriage to Virgil Huberty at Assumption Catholic Church in Emmetsburg.

Virginia worked in the Palo Alto County Treasurers office for thirty nine years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America.

Virginia passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, at the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Dale, Dean and Lloyd Howard; and three sisters, Alelia Fell, Phyllis Zeman and Patricia Madsen. She is survived by her husband, Virgil of Emmetsburg; her children, Robert Huberty of Rock Valley, Cheryl Hamilton (Paul) of Bancroft, and Karyn Huberty of Emmetsburg; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Huberty-Sorensen, Samantha Huberty, Brandi Huberty, Brian, Adam, Caroline and Emma Hamilton; great grandchildren, Aiden Sorensen and Lyla Sorensen; two sisters, Sharon Firkins of Emmetsburg, and Norma Buscherfeld of Whittemore; sisters-in-law, Lee Ann Dahm of Emmetsburg, Rose Ann Houliston (Mike) of Massanutten, VA and Jeanine Schneider of Emmetsburg; brothers-in-law, Larry Huberty (Lou Ann) of Emmetsburg and Gary Huberty (Connie) of Emmetsburg; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
