Peter A. Waldron 1944-2016

A Mass of Christian Burial for Peter A. Waldron of Ayrshire was held Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ayrshire. The Rev. Clem Currans was Celebrant.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Ayrshire. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Peter Allycen Waldron was born on May 25, 1944 to Ray and Clara Waldron. He grew up on the family farm with two older sisters (Beverly and Sharon) and a younger brother (Ed). Pete was driving tractor at five years old.

He attended grade school at Ayrshire Sacred Heart Catholic School, then graduated in 1962 from Emmetsburg Catholic High School. He went on to attend Iowa State University.

On May 1, 1965 Pete married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Kay Klaffke. Pete and Kay made their home in the Ayrshire area.

Pete enjoyed farming the family farm and working his Landrace hog operation.

Pete and Kay joined Shaklee in 1972 as an interesting hobby. It soon grew into a business. They enjoyed Bonus cars and trips to San Francisco, New Orleans, Toronto, Canada, Orlando and San Antonio.

Pete was a gifted welder and used his skill for Medford, Skyjack and then Ranco.

Pete gave his time as a Volunteer Fireman on the Silver Lake Fire Department and became a First Responder. He was also Secretary on the Calvary Cemetery Board.

The second love of his life was riding his motorcycle. Pete and Kay enjoyed dancing to The Senders. He also enjoyed a good visit with family and friends old and new.

Pete passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sharon Schenatzki; and a brother, Ed Waldron.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn “Kay” Waldron of Ayrshire; his sister, Beverly Jordan of Dubuque; his best friend, “Scruffy”; as well as many other relatives and friends.
