Arthur A. Kerr 1929-2016

GRAETTINGER — Funeral service for Arthur Kerr of Wallingford will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at the United Methodist Church in Graettinger. Burial is in Valley View Cemetery, Graettinger.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Joyce-Alesch Funeral Home in Graettinger.

Arthur Allen Kerr was born Aug. 3, 1929 in St. Croix, WI. He completed his life on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 at his home in Wallingford.

At a very young age Arthur’s family moved to Graettinger. During his childhood he worked with his mother and siblings at the Kerr’s Creamery.

On Nov. 2, 1946, he was united in marriage to Wanda Virginia Powers in Fairmont, MN. Art and Wanda enjoyed their 65 years together in Osgood, Graettinger, and Wallingford. Throughout their lives together, they enjoyed summers at their home on Leech Lake, MN.

During his life he worked at the Estherville Packing Plants, farmed (which he disliked greatly) in Osgood, the Spencer Packing Plant, and was co-owner of The Merchant Mariner in Longville, MN. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club.

Art had a business repairing bicycles; enjoyed woodworking; fishing during the early days at the Lake; loved to play cards and attend auctions. He had a great passion for collecting clocks. After retirement, he enjoyed being the caretaker of family and friends properties around Leech Lake. He made his final return from the beloved home on Leech Lake to Wallingford late September, 2015.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Linda (Delbert) Mickelson, of Wallingford; Sandra (David) Wolf of Belvidere, IL; and Cindy Kerr (Moisuk) of Douglasville, GA. Grandchildren: Kelly (Manuel) Reyes; Mindy (Lonnie) Hockett; Kevin (Jennifer) Wolf; Melissa (Dominic) Kirui; eight great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; sister, Lois Olesen; sisters-in-law, Doris Kerr, Marian (Asa) Candler, and Marilyn Powers; brother-in-law, Allen (Roberta) Powers; many loved nieces, nephews and good friends.

Arthur is preceded in Heaven by his wife, Wanda; parents, Howard M. Kerr, Louisa (Lammers) Kerr-Herke; step-father, Frank Herke; brother, Howard Kerr; sister, Ruth Olesen; sister-in-law, Velma Elnora Petersen; brothers-in-law, Virgil Olesen, Merville (Nip) Olesen, and LeRoy Powers; son-in-law, Kenneth Moisuk; nieces, Marsha (Olesen) Lambert, Yvonne (Olesen) Moberly, Patricia Thrasher, and Alyssa Powers; nephews, Thomas Moberly, and Donald Kerr.
