Donald Theesfield 1930-2015

Funeral service for Donald Theesfield of Emmetsburg was Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Joyce Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Donald Richard Thees-field, son of William and Lillian (Fisher) Theesfield was born April 11, 1930, in Great Oak Township. He attended school in Emmetsburg until the family moved to Peoria, IL ,where he was a graduate of Peoria High School.

Don was a 1961 graduate of Penn State University. He joined the United States Air Force following his education where he worked as an airplane mechanic at Edwards Air Force Base in California. After his service to his country, Don returned to Illinois and was a hospital caretaker.

In 1999, Don moved back to Emmetsburg, and he was an active participant at the Senior Citizen’s Center Dinner Date. Due to his health, he became a resident of the Emmetsburg Care Center in 2009.

Don was a fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the Minnesota Twins. He liked to listen to oldies, read, play cards and watch a good Western on T.V.

Don is survived by his daughter, Karen Rice of Texas; son, Mike Thees-field of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren: Andrea and Christopher; conservator and close friend for many years, Janis Campbell and her husband, Brian; Janis’ daughter, Kim Campbell and her children, BriAna and Phoenix, all of Emmetsburg.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Theesfield and sister-in-law, Nancy Theesfield.
