Dorothy Gravlund 1916-2015
Funeral service for Dorothy P. Gravlund is Thursday, Oct. 29, at 11 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ayrshire. The Rev. David Wagner will officiate.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy Pearl Gravlund, daughter of Arthur and Pearl (Cade) Bohn, was born March 19, 1916, in Curlew. She attended school in Curlew and graduating from Curlew High School.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Stanley Farlow. To this union three children were born. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was also a beautician in Rolfe for several years.
Dorothy was later married to Lawrence Gravlund and they made their home near Ayrshire where they farmed for several years before moving into Ayrshire. For many, many years, Dorothy served as the United Methodist Church organist in Ayrshire, playing for countless weddings, funerals and church services. Dorothy even honored Lawrence’s wishes by playing at his funeral. She was an active member of the Ayrshire United Methodist Women and church circle.
Dorothy passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2015 at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 99. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Stanley and Lawrence; two brothers, Everett Bohn and Russell Bohn; and sisters, Helen Rouse, Pauline Hill and Marjorie Bohn.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Bennett of Mission, SD, Richard Farlow of Ayrshire, and Jerry (Susan) Farlow of Orno, ME; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
