Grant Henkelvig 1946-2015
Benny “Grant” Henkelvig passed away on Thursday October 15, 2015 at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO due to complications of COPD.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO on Monday October 19, 2015 at 2:00pm. Interment of Grant’s ashes will be in the Columbarium Wall in the VA Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Grant was born on January 17, 1946 in Emmetsburg, IA to parents Benny and Isabelle (Schnetzer) Henkelvig. He was a 1964 graduate of Mallard High School. He served in the US Army from 1966-68. He was firing range instructor in Korea during the Vietnam Conflict. Grant was a cattle broker in Algona, IA then purchased and operated a cattle sale barn in Fulton, South Dakota for several years. Grant spent the majority of his career at ConAgra in Macon, MO. He enjoyed his retirement job with the City of Macon.
Grant is survived by his four children: Dawn (Stacey) Carlson, Trent (Heather) Henkelvig, Heidi (Keith) Fehr, and Julie (Ronald) Sidharta; and brother Gordy Henkelvig. He is preceded in death by his parents and companion Kathy Epperson.
