John Lambertus 1929-2015
Funeral service for John Henry Lambertus were held Monday, Sept. 28 at the Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. John died Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. He was 85.
John Henry Lambertus, the son of Otto and Theresa (Klinefelter) Lambertus, was born November 20, 1929 on a farm near Milford, Iowa. He attended Milford Community Schools. On November 8, 1950, John was united in marriage to Mary A. Griffith at the Lutheran parsonage in Spirit Lake, Iowa. John served two years in the United States Army where he spent most of his time stationed in Germany.
The couple made their home in Emmetsburg. John farmed and worked for Anderson Construction for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, working on cars and collecting cars. He was very handy, and he enjoyed mechanics and doing electrical work.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Mary of Emmetsburg; daughter, Dianna Clute of Marshalltown, IA; son, David and his wife, Sandra of Baxter, IA; two sisters: Myrtle Boddicker of Vinton, IA and Leanna Hassper of Lake Park, IA; a brother, Lester Lambertus of Emmetsburg; seven grandchildren; two step-grand- children; 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Virgil Lambertus; sister, Marian Walstrom; grandson Jacob Lambertus and a great-great grandson, Armani.
