Lorraine M. Biittner 1925-2015
HENNING, MN — Funeral services were held for Lorraine Biittner, age 89 of Henning, MN on Sept. 4, at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Henning, MN with Father Paul Folson officiating. The hymns were sung by the congregation accompanied by Paul Malecha.
The pallbearers were Jerud Cozine, Shannon White, Joshua Cozine, Christopher Biittner, Brandon Biittner, Loren Christianson, Meggan Biittner, Kyle Biittner, Rosalie Biittner, and Sean Biittner-Rheault.
Lorraine was laid to rest in St. Edwards Cemetery, Henning, MN.
Lorraine Marguerite Maneman was born on Nov. 26, 1925, in Carrol. Her parents were George Henry and Rose Bernadine (Leiting) Maneman. Lorraine graduated from St. Columbkille Catholic School with the class of 1943.
On Feb. 11, 1947 she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Denis Charles Biittner, in Varina at the St. Columbkille Catholic Church in a snowstorm, and they went to honeymoon at Niagara Falls. Their marriage was blessed with 11 children. Lorraine and Denis made their home in various cities in Iowa, and after living in Emmetsburg until 1977, Lorraine and Denis made their home in Vining.
Known as “Rae” to family and friends, she cherished spending time with loved ones, crocheting prayer shawls and making rosaries for the missions and church, making porcelain dolls, feeding the birds and her kitties, cooking and baking, vegetable and flower gardening, playing cards and dominoes, fishing, shopping, and reading all forms of romance novels. Lorraine was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church and participated in Christian Mothers, the Sugar and Spice Homemakers Club, and served with Community Action as an outreach worker until 1987.
Lorraine passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015 at the CentraCare Hospital in St. Cloud, MN at 89 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Lorraine in death were her parents; husband, Denis; an infant son, Terry Lee; brothers: Robert, Albert, George (Jim) and Clair (Dick) Maneman; sister, Alice Stedman-Longnecker.
Lorraine is survived by her children: Jean (Sue) Biittner of Sioux Falls, SD; Dan (Sheryl) Biittner of Barnum MN; Tim (Faye) Biittner of Osakis, MN; Steve Biittner of Emmetsburg; Mary Jane (Mark) Sprouse of Fergus Falls, MN; Lee Ann (Louis) Sudbeck of Dalton, MN; Bill (Maureen) Biittner of Sioux Falls, SD; Marta Biittner of Red Wing, MN; Lynette (Gary) Biittner-Rheault of Fergus Falls, MN; Tricia (Gary) Sarff of Lakeville, MN; 10 grandchildren: Jerud (Cassie) Cozine, Shannon (Wade) White, Joshua Cozine, Christopher Biittner, Brandon Biittner, Loren (Reid) Christianson, Meggan Biittner, Kyle and Brandon Polman-Biittner, Rosalie Biittner, and Sean Biittner-Rheault; six great-grandchildren: Ethan and Anna Cozine and Ian, Corbin, Evan and Hayden White; sisters: Ione Bojanski of Omaha, NE; Mary Lou (Dick) Naughton of Marshall Town; Georgia (Robert) Goltl of Omaha, NE; Karen (Mark) Hakenkamp of Lincoln, NE; sister-in-law, Connie Maneman of Storm Lake; many other relatives and a host of friends.
