Donald Dean Kuhn, son of Roscoe and Orvilla (Knutson) Kuhn, was born Sept. 10, 1935, in Rodman. He attended school in Rodman, and he was a graduate of Emmetsburg High School.
Following his education, Don enlisted in the United States Navy. After his service, Don was united in marriage to Norma Johnson on Feb. 14, 1960 at the United Methodist Church in Harcourt.
Don and Norma made their home in Emmetsburg where they raised their two children. Don worked as a jukebox operator for his father before joining the Palo Alto Reminder as a press operator. He later owned and operated Kuhn’s Marine in Emmetsburg. Don also worked at Wentzel’s True Value in Emmetsburg where he enjoyed working with small engines.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg and he was a member of Five Island Golf where he enjoyed playing in the Senior League. Don enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and spending time on the computer. He was fond of the time spent at the Lost Island cabin, and more than anything, Don loved to be with his family and friends.
