Jeffrey Waldstein 1979-2014
Funeral service for Jeffrey V. Waldstein will be held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 6, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sioux Rapids. The Rev. Peter Nguyen is the celebrant. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jeffrey Vernon Waldstein, son of Brian J. and Ann Marie (Simons) Waldstein, was born Aug. 6, 1979 in Emmetsburg. He received his education in Sioux Rapids, graduating from Sioux Central High School in 1998. Following graduation, Jeffrey attended Iowa State University, where he served as President of the ISU Rodeo Club. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Ag Studies in 2002. Jeffrey enjoyed cheering on his beloved Cyclones.
Jeffrey began working at Van Wall Equipment and then began his career with John Deere in DTAC John Deere Des Moines Works. He was currently employed as a Territory Customer Support Manager at John Deere in Monticello, MN.
Jeffrey loved the outdoors and going to his family’s home on Lost Island Lake near Ruthven. He looked forward to fishing and hunting and having the opportunity to spend time with his family. Jeffrey also enjoyed water skiing and was always ready for a fun time with his friends and family. He will certainly be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Jeffrey was an active and supportive member of Ducks Unlimited both locally and nationally. He believed in the importance of preserving the future of hunting and outdoor sports. Jeffrey’s family has set up a memorial in his name to be given to the Ducks Unlimited organization.
Jeffrey passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, near Monticello, MN, at the age of 34. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Jeannette Waldstein and Vernon and Alice Simons and his aunt, Pat Mills.
He is survived by his parents, Brian and Ann Waldstein of Sioux Rapids; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Eric and Hillary Waldstein of Aberdeen, SD, and Sean and Amanda Waldstein of Cortland, NE; his nieces and nephews, Xander and Ryan Waldstein of Aberdeen, SD and Ryleigh, Peyton and Evan Waldstein of Cortland, NE; aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
