Genevieve “Jennie”?Forey

RUTHVEN — A Mass of Christian Burial for Genevieve “Jennie” Forey will be held today, Thursday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ruthven. Concelebrants are the Rev. Clem Currans and the Rev. Tom Geelan.

Interment will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven is in charge of arrangements.

Genevieve “Jennie” Jane Forey, daughter of Russell and Helen (Meier) Chism, was born Oct. 17, 1936 in Cylinder. She received her education in Emmetsburg, graduating from Emmetsburg High School in 1954.

On Nov. 26, 1955, Jennie was united in marriage to Richard W. Forey at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Emmetsburg.

Jennie was employed at the Ruthven Coop Elevator for several years and then in 1995 she began working at the Ruthven-Ayrshire Community School in food service. In 2007 Jennie retired.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Guild.

Jennie passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the Ruthven Community Care Center, at the age of 76. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Richard; a grandson, Brett; a sister, Wilma Sheehan; and a brother, Russell Chism.

She is survived by her children, Kim Ruehle and her friend Don of Emmetsburg, Vicki Hendrickson of Mason City, Daniel Forey and his fianc, Becky of Shell Rock, David Forey and his wife, Carol of Ruthven, Patricia Sankey of Britt, and Karen Staples and her husband, Kevin of Goldfield; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Chism and Jerry Chism; two sisters, Lois Snavely and Pam Wirtz; nieces and nephews.
