Carol Ann Frederick 1947-2012

Funeral service for Carol Frederick of Emmetsburg will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg.

Visitation is Friday, March 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.

Carol Ann Frederick, daughter of Carl and Bessie (Heng) Voigt, was born May 17, 1947, in Estherville. Carol received her education in Emmetsburg, graduating from Emmetsburg High School. Carol was a very talented student and continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education.

On Dec. 27, 1969, Carol was united in marriage to Lyle “Butch” Frederick at the United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. To this union six children were born.

Carol was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed attending her children’s athletic events and continued that interest with her grandchildren’s events. Her children were always able to identify their mom’s voice above all the cheering in the crowd. They knew she was there for them.

Besides raising her family and helping Butch on the farm, Carol also worked at Sheakley’s in Emmetsburg. She then worked at the Palo Alto County Hospital in housekeeping for ten years. Carol was employed by Emmetsburg Care Center and most recently, Hometown Convenience.

Carol was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg, where she served on countless boards and committees. She was also active in church circle.

Carol passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, at the age of 64. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Butch of Emmetsburg; her children, Mike Frederick (Sarah) of Emmetsburg, Sandy Vondrak (Dan) of Sergeant Bluff, Mark Frederick (Jennifer) of Emmetsburg, Jason Frederick (Amanda) of Emmetsburg, Autumn Frederick (Rick) of Emmetsburg and Eric Frederick of Emmetsburg;13 grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Voigt (Lynn) of Altoona, Thomas Voigt (Carol) of Pataskala, OH, and David Voigt of Fort Dodge; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Donna and Arnie Hall Delavan, MN and Betty and Virgil Bleckwenn of Emmetsburg.
