Diane Sidles 1943-2011

A Mass of Christian Burial for Diane Sidles of Emmetsburg was Saturday, May 28, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Clem Currans was the Celebrant.

Burial was in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Diane Sidles, daughter of Joseph and Florine (Acord) Funderburg, was born Aug. 17, 1943, in Birmingham, AL. Her family moved to California where Diane graduated from Sonora High School. Following graduation, Diane attended Sacramento City College, receiving her degree in Cosmetology.

On March 20, 1965, Diane was united in marriage to Ronald Sidles in Carson City, NV. She and Ron later moved to Graettinger. Diane was an aide at the school in Graettinger as well as serving as secretary and janitor for Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was also employed at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg as a CNA.

Diane was a member of Holy Family Parish in Emmetsburg and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She served on the Resident Council at Lakeside Lutheran Home.

Diane passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the Palo Alto County Hospital, in Emmetsburg at the age of 67. She was preceded in death by her father; an infant brother, Joseph; and son-in-law, Dana Lee.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald of Emmetsburg; her children, Debbie Lee of Whittemore, Amy Gilderhus of Spencer, Casey Sidles of Denver, CO and Daniel Sidles of Scottsdale, AZ; six grandchildren; her mother, Florine Funderburg of Emmetsburg; and a sister, Susan Booker of Junction, TX.
