Cynthia Laubenthal 1950-2011

WEST BEND — Cynthia M. Laubenthal of West Bend died Friday, May 27, 2011, at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. She was 60.

Services will be held today, Tuesday, May 31, 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in West Bend. Burial will follow in the West Bend Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home of West Bend is in charge of arrangements.

Cynthia Marie Laubenthal, the daughter of Milford and Kathleen (Maahs)?Gade, was born Oct. 31, 1950, in West Bend. She attended the Lutheran School in Whittemore, the Rodman School and graduated from West Bend High School in 1968. She attended and graduated from Mankato State University with a bachelors degree in education. She later returned to school to attain a bachelors degree in Library Science.

On June 23, 1977, Cynthia was united in marriage with?Jerome Laubenthal at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Church in West Bend. The couple lived in the West Bend area for their married lives.

Cynthia taught school in Ayrshire, Mallard. Sts. Peter and Paul’s Parochial School, and most recently at Sentral of Fenton Schools, in all, more than 30 years of teaching. It was her true love.

Survivors include her husband,?Jerome of West Bend; mother, Kathleen Gade of West Bend; children: Carol Laubenthal of Algona, Theresa Laubenthal of Phoenix, AZ, Angie (Justin)?Roethler of West Bend and Todd (Emily)?Laubenthal of West Bend; and six grandchildren.

Also surviving are brothers and sisters:?Colleen (Don) Thilges of West Bend, Merle (Kathy)?Gade of West Bend and Carla (Darell)?Morgan of Emmetsburg.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, Milford, and two brothers.
