Alice M. McEwan 1942-2011
Funeral service for Alice McEwan of Emmetsburg was Monday, May 2, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Steve Ellerbusch officiated.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.
Alice Marie McEwan was born March 11, 1942, near Curtis, NE, the daughter of Lynn and Margaret (Linnemeyer) Nutt. She attended Curtis Community Schools.
Alice was united in marriage to Don McEwan at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. The couple farmed near Emmetsburg.
Alice enjoyed going to antique and garage sales. She was always fond of the outdoors – watching wildlife, fishing with the boys raising pheasants and gardening were favorite pastimes. Alice also spent many hours quilting and reading. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On Wednesday, April 27, 2011, Alice passed away at the North Iowa Health Center in Mason City.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Don of Emmetsburg six children: Teresa Olson (Steve) of Milford; Myron Edwards of Lakewood, CO, Law-rence Dean Edwards of Emmetsburg, Deb Mutchler (Doug) of Havelock, Joe McEwan (Lynn) of Ayrshire and Logan McEwan (Tiffany) of Denver, IA; two sisters: Janice Van Newkirk (Mert) of Scotts Bluff, NE and Carmy Howe of Omaha, NE; two brothers: Lester Nutt (Mickey) of Curtis, NE and Louis Nutt (Linda) of Wellfleet, NE; and sister-in-law, Leona Nutt of Curtis, NE. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
