Paul G. Rink 1914-2011

Funeral service for Paul Rink of Emmetsburg will be held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, March 22, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Clem Currans will officiate.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Ayrshire. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Paul G. Rink, son of John and Catherine (Kemmers) Rink, was born Nov. 17, 1914, near Ekalaka, MT. He received his education at Sts. Peter and Paul elementary school in West Bend and graduated from Rodman High School. Paul attended the Engineering Institute in Los Angeles, CA.

On May 12, 1938, Paul was united in marriage to Josephine Frances Fandel at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whittemore.

Paul farmed near West Bend and Ayrshire before moving to Marathon and later to Rolfe. He was employed at Twin Hydraulics and later Mefferd’s Hydraulics in Laurens. Paul retired and in 1993 he and Josephine moved to Emmetsburg.

Paul was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg.

In January 2008, Paul moved to Lakeside Lutheran Home, where he made his home until he passed away on Friday, March 18, 2011.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Josephine; two sons, Robert in infancy and George; two sisters, Eva Montag and Mary Jones; four brothers, George, Frank, Ray, and Jack Rink; a grandson; and a granddaughter.

Paul is survived by his children, Bill Rink of Greeley, CO, Joe Rink of Lakewood, CO, Francis Rink of Rolfe, Cathy Schuler of Newton, MO, Mary Sinor of Irrigon, OR, Jim Rink of Marysville, KS, John Rink of Estherville, Theresa Peters of Emmetsburg, Mike Rink of Sioux Falls, SD, Sharon Rink of Emmetsburg, Ray Rink of Marathon, Greg Rink of Fort Dodge, David Rink of Eugene, OR, and Margaret (Lynn) Cunningham of Mexico, MO; 40 grandchildren; and 60 great grandchildren.
