Robert Lee Gilman was born Aug. 12, 1940, in Emmetsburg, the son of Michael and Marie (Johnson) Gilman. Bob graduated from Emmetsburg Catholic High School in 1959. He continued his education at Hamilton Business College in Mason City where he received an accounting degree.

On Sept. 29, 1961, Bob was united in marriage to Ina Marie Yezek in Nora Springs. Bob worked in Fort Dodge as an accountant for a trucking firm for one year before moving to Emmetsburg in 1962. He worked in the Palo Alto County Treasurer’s Office until 1967 when he joined Pamline. Bob enjoyed sales, and in 1980, he worked as an independent sales representative for N and A Manufacturing in Mallard until the time of his illness. For the past ten years, Bob owned and operated Circle G Supply, selling saddles and tack.

Bob was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He enjoyed selling horse tack and traveling to fairs, antique car shows, horse shows and flea markets. He loved to play cards with the card club, and more than anything, Bob loved family get-togethers and being with his grandchildren.

On Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, Bob passed away at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, TX. He was 70.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marie of Emmetsburg; two sons, Richard and wife, Annette of Parker, CO and Ryan and wife, Nancy of West Des Moines; four grandchildren, Adam, Jessica, Gramm and Sage; and one great-granddaughter, Nevaeh.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Gilman; and an infant son, Alan.
