Edward “Buck” Hemple

WEST BEND — Funeral service for Edward “Buck” Hemple of West Bend is 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 17, at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in West Bend. Burial will be in the West Bend Cemetery. The Harris Funeral Home in West Bend is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hemple died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. He was 88.

Edward Henry Hemple was born Dec. 28, 1922, in Fulda, MN, where he was raised and received his education in the Catholic school there.

On Aug. 30, 1958, he was united in marriage with Ruby Schurg at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in West Bend. The couple lived their married years in West Bend.

Buck farmed, then built feed mills and elevators for T.E. Iberson. He worked 22 years for the City of West Bend. He enjoyed working with wood, jig saw puzzles, gardening, solitaire games and word searches.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby, of West Bend; sons, Richard E. (Robin) Hemple of Little Falls, MN, and Randy L. Hemple of Vista, CA; and two grandchildren, Katie and Kyle Hemple. Also surviving are sisters: Eileen McCormick of Plymouth, MN, Mary Allen (Pete) Duinkerken of Worthington, MN, Teresa Allen of Estherville and Adeline Burns of Westbrook, MN, and sister-in-law Rita Hempel of Cannon Falls, MN.

Mr. Hemple was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joe Hempel; and brothers-in-law, Clarence McCormick, Hugh Allen, Jack Allen and George Burns.
