Ella Boles died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg. She was 92.

Ella Louise Boles, daughter of James M. and Mae (Smith) Boles, was born May 15, 1918, in Glasgow, KY. She received her education in Rolfe.

“Eller,” as she was known by family and friends, farmed near Graettinger, growing grain and raising hogs and cattle. She moved to Emmetsburg after retiring and in August 2010 became a resident at Lakeside Lutheran Home.

Eller enjoyed her family, especially visiting with her sisters, nieces and nephews on their Sunday visits. She was always concerned about her neighbors and was willing to help out in any way she could.

Eller liked building bird houses and bird feeders. She was very partial to Farmall tractors and she had a great ability to fix anything that was broken.

Survivors include two sisters, Susy Petersen of Graettinger and Jean Westfall of Emmetsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Ella Boles was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wallace and Robert Boles; and three sisters, Marion Potter, Marie Beschorner and Kathleen Curry.
