Cora Jacobson 1916-2010

Funeral services for Cora Jacobson of Emmetsburg will be Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church near Cylinder. Burial is in North St. John’s Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28 at the Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.

Cora Irene Jacobson was born June 7, 1916, near Graettinger, IA, the daughter of Carl and Martha (Olson)?Lillevik. She was a 1934 graduate of Rodman High School.

On March 5, 1939, Cora was united in marriage to Percy Jacobson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Depew. Cora raised her family and helped Percy on the farm, and she continued to manage the farm after Percy passed away in 1980.

Cora was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Farm Bureau, and she volunteered as an adult 4-H Leader when her children were active. Cora was always there for all of her family – children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

On Christmas Day, Cora passed away at the PARC?Hall in Emmetsburg.

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Janice Bronson (Ronald) of Forest City, IA; Kathryn Nase (Robert) of Spencer, IA; Phyllis Beschnett (William) of Waseca, MO.; two sisters: Ruthven Berlinda of Cylinder and Helen Barth (Gerald) of Forest City, IA; sister-in-law, Iona Lilllie; nine grandchildren; Mike Bronson (Bonnie), Susan Hickman (Adam), David Nate (Linda), Becky Mayer (Kevin), Jenny Sumner (Scott) , Paul Nate (Karen), Christine Keith (Art), Bill Besonnet (Lisa) and Anne Besonnet (Josh Becker) and 16 great-grandchildren.

Cora was preceded in death by her parents; husband Percy; two brothers, Omer and Orison Lilllie and a sister, Margaret Johnson.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
