Louise Swanson 1924-2010

Graveside service for former Emmetsburg resident Louise Swanson was Sunday, Nov. 14, at Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Steve Ellerbusch officiated. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Louise V. Swanson died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, in the loving embrace of her daughter and the compassionate staff of North Memorial Residential Hospice in Brooklyn Center, MN.

Louise was born to Sam and Susie Vanderby of Emmetsburg on May 5, 1924, a strong-willed and full of life fourth child. She attended Palo Alto #1 grade school, one mile west of the home farm, from kindergarten through eighth grade. She graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1940.

Most of her vast working career was spent as a para professional bookeeper/accountant. She last worked for Pete Marwick in downtown St. Paul, MN.

Her passions were crossword puzzles, watching her backyard birds, gardening and her grandchildren.

She is survived by sister Arlene Nelson (Henry), daughter Connie Huggett, sons Jerry Boitnott and Kevin Swanson (Tonja); 16 nieces and nephews; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Swanson was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Marion; sisters, Hilda and Theresa; and nephews, Ronnie and Richard.
