Ida Dallam 1920-2010

Funeral service for Ida Dallam of Emmetsburg is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Clem Currans will officiate.

Inurnment is in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday, Nov. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Catholic Daughters of America Rosary is at 4 p.m.

Ida died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg. She was 90.

Ida Dallam was born May 8, 1920, in the coal mining community of Waukee, where she grew up. On March 7, 1942, just before World War II, she married Merle Dallam and spent the next three years waiting for him to come home. He did and they spent the next 40 years farming in Emmetsburg.

Ida loved her garden, her flowers and her family. She was a member of the Ringsted Garden Club and a Bible Club.

Survivors include her husband, Merle; a daughter, Diane Cattrysse of Mankato, MN and a son, Michael (Sherry)?Dallam of Flagstaff, AZ; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Susan Lamberti of Sacramento, CA.

Ida Dallam was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and a brother.
