E. Kathleen Curry 1924-2010

Funeral service for Kathleen Curry of Emmetsburg was Saturday, Oct. 30, at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. David A. Morris officiated.

Burial was in Valley View Cemetery, Graettinger. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Curry, 86, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at her home in Emmetsburg.

Edna Kathleen Curry, daughter of James M. and Mae (Smith) Boles, was born June 21, 1924, in Rolfe. She received her education in the Pinkerton School in Rolfe.

On May 2, 1942, Kathleen and Herbert W. Curry were married. Kathleen did domestic work for many families in the area. She stayed with many of these families, caring for their children.

In the early 1960s, Kathleen and Herbert opened Kathleen’s Custodial Care. After a few years they built Kathleen’s Residential Care facility and expanded their care to more individuals. Kathleen managed this facility until her retirement.

Surviving are her children:?Marlene G. Iverson of Emmetsburg, Kenneth D. Curry of Emmetsburg, Marvin R. Curry of Pocahontas and Linn A. Curry of Algona; 11 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Ella Boles of Emmetsburg, Susy Petersen of Graettinger and Jean Westfall of Emmetsburg.

Mrs. Curry was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert; her son, William L. Curry; two brothers, Wallace and Robert Boles; two sisters, Marion Potter and Marie Beschorner; and a daughter-in-law, Grace Curry.
