Bobbie E. Shaffer 1925-2010
Funeral service for Bobbie E. Shaffer of Emmetsburg was Monday, Sept. 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. David A. Morris officiated.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Shaffer died Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg. He was 85.
Bobbie E. ?Shaffer, son of Archie and Florence (Rouse)?Shaffer, was born June 29, 1925, in Ayrshire. He received his education in Ayrshire, graduating in 1942.
On Nov. 20, 1949, Bob Shaffer and Norma Godden were married at Emmetsburg. The couple farmed in the area near Emmetsburg for many years. Bob was also employed for a few years at Hite’s John Deere Implement in Emmetsburg.
Bob was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg, serving on various church boards. He had served on the Cylinder Elevator board and was a member of Farm Bureau.
Surviving are his wife, Norma, of Emmetsburg; his children, Larry (Lois)?Shaffer of Spirit Lake, Marilyn (Gary)?Drew of Maquoketa, Janet (Stan) Baatz of Omaha, NE and Annette (Jeff)?Norland of Coralville; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Leona Anderson of Charles City.
Mr. Shaffer was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Frank Shaffer; and a sister, Irene Rubel.
