Lois Mae Dobbins 1923-2010

GRAETTINGER — Funeral service for Lois Mae Dobbins is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the United Methodist Church in Graettinger. Pastor Michael L. Shaffer will officiate.

Burial is in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ruthven. The Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Graettinger is in charge of arrangements.

Lois Mae (Nielson) Dobbins, the daughter of Oscar and Florence (Eaton) Nielson, was born July 6, 1923, in Ruthven. She passed away Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, at the age of 87.

She attended country school through eighth grade and graduated from Ruthven High School.

On March 21, 1948, Lois was united in marriage to Harry L. Dobbins at the United Methodist Church in Ruthven. After their marriage the couple made their home in Walnut Township south of Graettinger where they raised their family and farmed. Harry died Aug. 2, 1994.

Lois was a member of the United Methodist Church in Graettinger and participated in the United Methodist Women and church circle activities.

Left to cherish Lois’ memory are her children, Craig Dobbins and his wife, Nancella of West Lafayette, IN; Sheryl Oneal and her husband, James of Adel; Steven Dobbins and his wife, Connie of Graettinger; grandchildren, Jarett (Lesley) Dobbins and child Lily, Carrie (Steve) Kitts and child Miles, Michael Oneal, Pamela (Josh) Teiken, Kathleen Oneal, Ryan (Nichole) Dobbins and children Hailey and Addisson, Bret (Crystal) Dobbins and children Riley and Alyx , Brooke (Charles) Tasler and Courtney Dobbins, and sister, Lucile Carpenter of Spencer.

Preceding Lois in death were her husband; parents; stepmother Nelle; a sister, Fern; and a brother, Wesley.
