Douglas Sorenson 1944-2010
RUTHVEN — Funeral service for Douglas W. Sorenson of Dickens was Tuesday, July 6, at the United Methodist Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Diana Pollard, the Rev. Doug Dingel and the Rev. Roger Maize officiated.
Burial was in Meadow Township Cemetery at Langdon. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven was in charge.
Mr. Sorenson died Friday, July 2, 2010, near Dickens. He was 65.
Douglas Wayne Sorenson was born July 7, 1944, in Spencer, the son of Everett and Elaine (Milton)?Sorenson. He began school near Langdon and later attended Okoboji and Lake Center Schools. He graduated in 1962.
Doug continued his education at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD.
On June 12, 1964, Doug Sorenson and Patricia Eldridge were married at the United Methodist Church in Ruthven.
Doug farmed his entire life. He was a grain farmer and also raised hogs and cattle. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Langdon.
Survivors include his wife, Patt of Dickens; children, Kae Heideman of Rembrandt, Jeff and Emily Sorenson of Spencer, Kyle Sorenson of Lake Field, MN, and John and Kari Sorenson of Graettinger; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Also surviving are his mother, Elaine Sorenson of Spencer; two brothers, Ervin (Karen)?Sorenson of Dickens and Dan (Allison)?Sorenson of Dickens; a sister, Janet (Bruce)?Johnson of Mankato, MN: brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dave and Lavonne Eldridge of Graettinger; nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and countless friends.
Mr. Sorenson was preceded in death by his father, Everett; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marion and Wilma Eldridge.
