Funeral service for Michael D. Coleman of Greenville is 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, July 1, at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. David A. Morris will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Coleman passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital. He was 53.

Michael Dean Coleman was born Sept. 25, 1956, in Emmetsburg, the son of Harold “Gene” and Nola (Carlson)?Coleman. He attended school in Emmetsburg and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1974. He served his country until 1976.

On Jan. 15, 1976, Mike Coleman and Ruth Spiker were married at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg.

After returning from the service, Mike was employed at Spencer Municipal Utilities. He worked there for 34 years.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of Greenville; three daughters, Kathy (Joel)?Adams of Humboldt, Kim Coleman of Sioux Falls, SD, and Karen (Michael) Baartman of Dickens; and five grandchildren, Mason, Tasha, Whitney, ?Ethan and Emma.

Also surviving are three brothers, Randy Coleman of Washington, Joe Coleman of Sioux Falls, SD, and Tim Coleman of Spencer.

Michael Coleman was preceded in death by his brother, Mark; his parents; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.
