Ingrid D. Duhn 1919-2010

Funeral service for Ingrid Duhn of Emmetsburg is 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, June 15, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Steve Ellerbusch will officiate.

Burial will be Saturday, June 19, at 11 a.m. in the Swedesburg Lutheran Cemetery at Swedesburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Duhn died Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. She was 91.

Ingrid Dorothy Duhn, daughter of Joseph Leonard and Marie Violet (Lindell)?Peterson, was born May 28, 1919, in Winfield. She received her education in Olds, graduating in 1937. While in high school, Ingrid played on the girls basketball team which went to the Iowa state tournament.

Ingrid attended Davenport Business School and was later employed at a drug store in Davenport. After a few years, she moved to Arcadia, CA, and worked for Bank of America and then for Arcadia Motors where she met John Duhn.

On Dec. 9, 1950, Ingrid and John Henry Duhn were married. The couple returned to Emmetsburg in 1950.

Ingrid was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg where she had been active in Circle. She served as a Precinct Election Official for Palo Alto County for many years.

Survivors include her children, Grant Duhn of Wallingford, Wendell (Judi)?Duhn of Emmetsburg, Annette (Jerry) Peterson of Iroquois, IL, Joyce (John)?Froisland of Emmetsburg, Brian (Melissa) Duhn of Great Falls, MT, and James (Renee) Duhn of Fort Dodge; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Ingrid Duhn was preceded in death by her parents; her children’s father, John Duhn; and three brothers, Leon Wendell in infancy, John Maynard Peterson and?Paul LaVerne Peterson.
