James E. Carney 1937-2010
James E. Carney, 72, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at his home in Sachse, TX
Born Dec. 12, 1937, in Emmetsburg, James is the son of William and Rose (Bollard) Carney. He served in the U.S. Army as Command Sgt. Major and retired in 1978 after 23-plus years of service. During his years of service, he served three tours in Vietnam. He was awarded two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars and numerous other medals.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; daughters, Brenda Alexander (Donnie), Sherri Cross, and Karla Prough (John); a son, Elvis Long (Carrie); and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Also surviving are brothers, Bill (Malinda)?of Fort Dodge, and Steve (Diane)?of Emmetsburg; and sisters, Connie Thomas of Des ?Moines, Jane Johnson (Rollin) of Pocahontas, Mary Moser (Jim) of Cylinder, Maureen Hansch (Jim) of Fort Dodge, and Linda Lorenzen of Sac City.
James Carney was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Pat, Michael, Tom and Paul; and a sister, Kay Lentz.
James Emmett Carney was buried at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, TX, with full military honors.
