Phylis K. Davis 1939-2010
Funeral service for Phylis Kay Davis was Saturday, May 8, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. The Rev. David A. Morris, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiated.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg.
Phylis died Monday, May 3, 2010, at the Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. She was 70.
Phylis Kay (Herteen)?Davis was born July 19, 1939, in West Grove, the daughter of Lionel and Daisy (Wheeler) Herteen. She attended school in Bloomfield.
On June 2, 1957, Phylis and Wayne Davis were married in Bloomfield. The couple lived in Cedar Rapids until 1964 when they moved to Northwest Iowa and farmed near Mallard. In 1969 the couple moved to a farm near Emmetsburg where they lived until 1984 when they moved into town.
Phylis was a member of the United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg where she served as a member of various circles and committees. She was also a member of the Mallard Garden Club.
Survivors include her children, Kathy (Jim) Lenertz of Lincoln, NE, Sharon (Howard)?Taylor of Lewis-ville, TX, Jackie Koza of Waverly, NE, and Kirk (Lisa)?Davis of Sioux Falls, SD; and ten grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters and two brothers.
Phylis Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; and her parents.
