Funeral service for Carl C. Knapp of Ringsted was Monday, March 29, at the First Presbyterian Church in Ringsted. Pastor Suzanne Wobig officiated.

Burial was in Ringsted Memorial Cemetery, Ringsted. Military rites will be conducted by Christiansen-Bonnicksen American Legion Post 382 of Ringsted

Carl Clifton Knapp, the son of Harrison and Sarah (Snook) Knapp, was born April 10, 1923, in Rolfe. He passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2010, at Rosemount Assisted Living in Kingwood, TX, at the age of 86.

He graduated from Plover High School and attended Emmetsburg Junior College.

He married his high school sweetheart Ilene Enge, Sept. 8, 1943 and they were married 65 years.  He served in World War II as an x-ray technician in the Army Air Corps from 1943-45 and received both a Bronze and Purple Heart Medal. Following his discharge, he farmed near Laurens for four years and then Graettinger for ten years.  From 1960 until 1993 he owned the John Deere Implement in Ringsted.

At various times he served on the Graettinger School Board, Ringsted Town Council, Emmet County Fair Board, and service committees of the Ringsted Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by sons Donald (wife Nancy) of Lake Crystal, MN,  Ronald (wife Mary) of Ringsted and daughter Linda Abdmoulaie (husband Mansoor) of Humble, TX; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Glen Knapp and wife Ilene.
