Justin Thompson 1937-2010

Funeral service for Justin Thompson of Cylinder was Monday, March 2, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Clem Currans officiated.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thompson died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. He was 72.

Justin Freeman Thompson was born June 3, 1937, in Estherville, the son of Justin and Lucille (Freeman)?Thompson. He attended country school and graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1955. Justin served in the Iowa National Guard.

On June 25, 1956, Justin Thompson and Kathleen Myers were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home near Cylinder where Justin farmed for many years. He also sold insurance in the area and was still active in this occupation.

Justin was married to Maxine Domek Thompson on Aug. 31, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Fenton.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine, of Emmetsburg; step-children, Carrie and Tim Brown of Storm Lake, Mike and Carla Thompson of Apple Valley, CA, Todd and Dorsey Thompson of Clarksville, Lori Ganarajah of Dubuque, Troy and Nesha Thompson of Spencer, and Amy and Brian Hart of Cedar Rapids; and 20 step-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, George (Susan)?Thompson of Aurora, CO, and Richard Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Kathleen.
