Larry H. Allen 1934-2010

MALLARD — Larry H. Allen of Curlew died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. He was 75.

Funeral service for Mr. Allen is 1 p.m. Tuesday,?Jan. 26, at the Harris Funeral Home Chapel in Mallard. Burial will follow in the West Bend Cemetery.

Larry H. Allen was born Dec. 18, 1934, in West Bend, the son of Alva and Ida (Phillip)?Allen. He was raised and received his education in West Bend, graduating from West Bend High School in 1952.

On Sept. 13, 1953, Larry Allen and Patricia Wilderman were married in Fort Dodge. The couple lived in West Bend before moving to Curlew in 1959. Larry farmed and drove truck in the Curlew area.

Larry enjoyed spending time with his children as well as motorcycling with his wife and friends, snowmobiling and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Curlew; children, Robin Allen (Steve Peterson)?of Ayrshire, Roxane Thielen (Kim Lewis)?of Evansdale, Roni Rouse (Jim Rouse)?of Monroe, Robert Allen (Erika)?of Grundy Center and Rebecca Einck (Gary) of Grundy Center; and 14 grandchildren.

Also surviving are sisters Sunny Hatfield of Idaho and Oma Montag (Philip) of Minnesota; brother, Steve Allen (Betty) of Oregon; and brother-in-law Dick Wilderman (Judy) of Des Moines.

Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and eight brothers, Opal Yotter, Ben, Glen, Leonard, Phil, Dale, Les, Duane and Maynard.

The Allen family invites all to a time of sharing and fellowship at Park View Inn and Suites, West Bend, immediately following the commital service.
