Bill Imes 1914-2009
RUTHVEN — Funeral service for Bill Imes of Ruthven is 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at the United Methodist Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Roger Maize will officiate.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is today, Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Ruthven.
Mr. Imes died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at the Ruthven Community Care Center. He was 95.
Gerald William Imes was born April 9, 1914, in Bismarck, ND, the son of Floyd and Nella (King)?Imes. The family moved to St. Charles, IA, where Bill receive his education. In 1935, Bill moved to Ruthven.
On May 22, 1937, Bill Imes and Helen Reed were married. The couple farmed near Ruthven.
Bill was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ruthven, where he held many offices in the church. Bill was on the Ruthven Elevator Board and the Ruthven Oil Company Board. He was a 50-year member of Highland Masonic Lodge #4878. Bill had also been a 4-H leader.
In 1978 Bill retired from farming and the couple built their home on Lost Island Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Helen, of Ruthven; a daughter, Maryln (John) Reno of Terril; four grandchildren, Steve and Darci Reno of Lincoln, NE, Danita and David Jacobson of Houston, TX, Diana and Jon Ward of Cedar Rapids, and Debbie Reno of Houston, TX; 11 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
Mr. Imes was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Floyd “Butch”; and two brothers.
