Marcella Morgan 1924-2009

Funeral service for former resident Marcella I. Morgan was Wednesday, Aug. 5, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. The Rev. David Biddle officiated.

Burial was in Valley View Cemetery, Graettinger. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Morgan died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at Morey’s Haven in Columbus, NE. She was 84.

Marcella Iniece Morgan, daughter of Joseph and Ollie Mae (Fox)?Bramley, was born Sept. 30, 1924, in Arion. She attended school in Crawford County until eighth grade. Marcella then attended Cylinder High School, graduating in 1944.

On May 28, 1944, Sally and Hugh George Morgan were married in Clylinder. After leaving their farm near Ayrshire, Sally and Hugh managed the King Street Apartments in Emmetsburg and later operated the Lucky Charm Motel. Sally and Hugh also did yard care for many people in Emmetsburg.

The couple moved to Dow City where they made their home until Hugh’s death. Sally later made her home in Sac City and in Monroe, NE.

Sally was a past member of the Ayrshire United Methodist Church and the Assembly of God Church in Emmetsburg.

Survivors include her daughters, Betty Fricke of Monroe, NE and Alice Anderson of Caldwell, KS; and five grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, James Bramlely of Cylinder, Frank Bramley of Lake View and Ronald Bramley of Mason City; and sisters, Vida Krough of Emmetsburg, Ruth Harson of Emmetsburg and Charlotte Morey of West Bend.

Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugh, on June 22, 2001; and two brothers, Richard and Eugene Bramley.
